Married Life 101: Build a Mancave

Most people don't like to spend their entire lives being alone.  But sometimes you also want to just get away on your own and relax for a while.  If there are other people in your house, getting alone time is difficult sometimes though.   Wouldn't it be cool if you could have one room just to yourself?  This room can have anything you want in it and you are in charge of that one space.  This is called a mancave.

A mancave is basically a sanctuary for the male in the household.  If you have a wife, you know that she probably likes to decorate the whole house a certain way.  And it is also difficult to find space in the home that can be exclusively yours.  A man cave is that room that can be your own.  Since this is your room you aren't restricted to what your wife says about how to decorate it.  And while it is called a cave it is usually just a basement, attic, or spare room.  When you are tired of being bothered by people, just hide in your cave for a while.

It is your cave and you can decorate however you want.  So that probably means you'll forget about bright wallpapers and pretty colors of paint.  You can pretend your in college again and put up posters of girls and rock bands if you want.  Most mancaves include a large screen TV and video games.  A big comfortable couch is a must for most men as well.  The rest I will leave up to you.  You can add guitars, arcade games, a pool table, etc.  This isn't your wife's room it is your room so you are in charge.

Do you want a man cave but don't have one yet?  It is actually not hard to do.  Just find a room in the house that nobody really needs and claim it as your own.  Then you just slowly start adding the decor and items you want.  Many guys like to start with just a TV and a couch and build up from there.

If you feel lost, there is plenty of help available.  There are loads of cool man cave ideas and pictures if you take a few minutes to search online.  You can even find specialty stores with decorations and furniture for man caves.  You can buy everything from recliners to neon signs for your door.  In fact signs are quite popular and people often get signs in a variety of styles.  Just make sure to put decorations, sports memorabilia, or games that you will enjoy.  This is your mancave and it should represent who you are.
